Aviation 101 Boeing 757
The origins of the Boeing 757 began in the early 1970's when Boeing engineers started looking at a replacement for the very successful 727 trijet. By 1978 two variants were being considered; both were narrow-body twin-engine aircraft. By Mar 1979, the larger capacity of the two, code named 7N7-200, was officially selected and renamed 757. The 757 was designed and manufactured concurrently with the wide-body twinjet 767; the two aircraft featuring many similar features. Production began in 1981 at Boeing's Renton assembly plant near Seattle, WA. The first 757 entered commercial service on 1 Jan. 1983 with Eastern Airlines. When production ended in Oct 2004, a total of 1050 aircraft had been built for 54 customers.

Boeing 757-28A c/n 32448 l/n 967
History:
Boeing Co. First flight: 21 May 2001
North American Airlines N756NA 3 Jun 2001
- leased from GECAS - General Electric Capital Aviation Services LAB - "wet leased" from NAA " Dec 2004
North American Airlines " 24 Mar 2005 - leased - AFSI - Aviation Financial Services Inc. - ret Jun 2005
U S Airways N207UW 11 Mar 2011
U S Airways " 24 Apr 2012 - leased from GECAS American Airlines " 9 Dec 2013 - operational
Note: As far as I can tell this aircraft was never flown by LAB. It was intended to be flown on the Santa Cruz - Miami - Washington DC route. A "wet lease" is when one airline, (in this case NAA), provides the aircraft, complete flight crew, maintenance and insurance to another airline, (in this case LAB); who would cover the fuel costs, airport and other fees or taxes.
Item of interest: A request was made by North American Airlines on 14 Dec 2006 to the US Dept of Transportation to allow NAA to perform flights on behalf of LAB later that same month. These flights would have been for the Santa Cruz - Miami - Washington DC route. Whether any of these flights, or any other by these two B757s, ever took place, I don't know; I am still looking into it.

Note: Although it seems that this aircraft, as well N756NA, were never flown by LAB, there is at least one report of an observer sighting this plane in Mexico City on 17 Dec 2004 in TMA colors on a flight from Bolivia.
Interesting note: This aircraft was used by the John Kerry Presidential Campaign from May to Nov 2004 under a short-term lease from TransMeridian Airlines; (see photo below). Following his loss on election day the aircraft was re-painted in the TMA color scheme and returned to them.
